Recovery Month Community Resource Spotlight: Shine A Light Foundation

This September, in recognition of National Recovery Month, we’re highlighting organizations across Nevada that support people and families affected by substance use and recovery. First up: Shine A Light Foundation in Southern Nevada.

About Shine A Light Foundation

Shine A Light Foundation serves individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use disorder throughout Southern Nevada, with a particular focus on individuals living in the flood channels, tunnels, encampments, and other areas not traditionally reached by services.

The goal is not simply to provide short term assistance, but to help individuals move from the street into treatment, recovery, housing, and long term stability.

Support for Recovery

Shine A Light’s primary program is IPATH:  Instant Placement with Access to Treatment and Housing, supported by our Continuity Case Management model.

When an individual is ready to make a change, their team works to remove as many barriers as possible and connect them immediately to the appropriate level of care. Depending on the individual’s needs, this may include:

  • Withdrawal management/detox and residential treatment
  • Substance use and behavioral health services
  • Medication-assisted treatment through community partners
  • Transitional and sober living housing
  • Transportation and basic-needs assistance
  • Legal, employment, medical, and other community resources
  • Peer support and recovery resources
  • Ongoing case management for approximately 18–24 months

Shine A Light works with individuals throughout their recovery journey rather than simply making a referral and moving on. Their team continues walking alongside clients as they transition from treatment into housing, employment, recovery support, and greater independence.

How to Connect

Individuals interested in services can connect with Shine A Light through their outreach teams, community partners, or by contacting them directly. They are also happy to work with treatment providers, hospitals, law enforcement, community organizations, and other referral partners to connect individuals with our services.
