Healthy Living, Sustainable Recovery Resource Center

Healthy Living, Sustainable Recovery Resource Center

The Healthy Living, Sustainable Recovery (HLSR) Resource Center is an evidence-informed program that bridges substance use recovery with physical health and emotional wellbeing through nutrition and physical activity education. Active since 2007, HLSR complements traditional treatment by addressing physiological factors that affect recovery outcomes, such as nutrient deficiencies, blood sugar instability, sleep disruption, and physical inactivity. Their programming spans community education, professional development for clinical and correctional providers, and practical tools for adults and adolescents across a range of settings including prisons, treatment centers, schools, and specialty courts. The program also includes targeted support for women and girls around body image and eating concerns, with an overall focus on building resilience, recovery capital, and long-term wellbeing for individuals, families, and communities.
