Change Point is a harm reduction program, providing confidential and judgment-free resources to support safer substance use and sexual behavior. Services are free and open to everyone, regardless of whether they are regular HOPES patients. The program also includes a mobile outreach van offering syringe services and rapid testing within the community.
Northern Nevada HOPES is transitioning Change Point Risk Reduction Support services to a trusted community partner, Northern Nevada Harm Reduction Alliance (NNHRA).
While Change Point will no longer be operated by HOPES, NNHRA will continue offering vital harm reduction services, including the Safe Syringe Support and mobile van, right from the parking lot at both HOPES clinics.
HOPES will still support the community with sharps disposal at 5th Street and rapid HIV, Hep C, and same-day STI testing through our clinic. Just walk in and ask to be added to the schedule — we’re still here for you.
Additionally, free Narcan (naloxone) is available at both HOPES pharmacy locations. Anyone can walk in and request it — no appointment or prescription needed.
Risk Reduction Support saves lives. In 2024, programs like Safe Syringe Support and access to naloxone helped reduce overdose deaths nationwide by 27%, highlighting their critical impact.
