The Nevada Opioid Center of Excellence (NOCE) recently participated in the L.I.M.A. Community Resource Sharing Meeting, a collaborative event aimed at connecting service providers, law enforcement, and community members to share resources and strengthen support networks for individuals facing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and homelessness. This meeting provided an opportunity for organizations to introduce their services and establish partnerships to better assist those in need. NOCE was honored to take part in this effort, furthering its mission of education, advocacy, and expanding access to treatment and support services for those affected by opioid use in Nevada.
About the L.I.M.A. Diversion Program
The LIMA Diversion Program (Law Enforcement Intervention for Mental Health and Addiction) is a nine to twelve month prebooking diversion program developed to provide a voluntary pathway to recovery to individuals with substance abuse issues, mental health issues, and homelessness issues who may be committing low-level crimes related to their substance use. This program allows law enforcement officers to redirect low-level drug offenders to engage in community based services. By diverting eligible individuals to services, LVMPD is committed to improving public safety and public order and reducing criminal behavior of people who participate in the program. LIMA Diversion Program helps divert participants away from the justice system without entering it. To be eligible for the LIMA Diversion Program, participants must have a chemical dependency issue and be willing to engage in treatment services throughout their participation in the LIMA Diversion Program. Eligible participants shall have no history of drug sales or drug trafficking or sex offenses, i and violent criminal history may disqualify an application.
