High Sierra AHEC is excited to share a new statewide education opportunity, made possible through a partnership grant from the National AHEC Organization (NAO) and Pri-Med. The program, Safe and Effective Pain Care: A Comprehensive Guide for Opioid Prescribing in Primary Care, offers free continuing education for healthcare providers engaged in prescribing or treating patients with opioid analgesics.
This curriculum aligns with the Opioid Analgesic REMS FDA Blueprint and provides:
- Evidence-based strategies for safe and effective pain management
- Risk-reduction tools to help mitigate opioid therapy challenges
- 4 AMA PRA Credits, 4 AANP Contact Hours, and AANP Pharmacology Hours (pending)
Participation has officially opened, and learners have until October 31, 2026, to complete the training, though they are encouraged to finish sooner rather than later. Providers can register directly at: https://www.pri-med.com/online-cme-ce/clinical-coffee-break/safe-and-effective-pain-care-nao
Intended Audience: Providers engaged in prevention, behavioral health, and chronic pain management.
Partnership Details:
- CME webcast specifically for NAO/AHEC participants, with participation tracked by AHEC.
- Pri-Med will identify each participating AHEC for activity tracking while hiding duplication from their master audience.
- Monthly participation reports will include clinician first/last name, email, city/state, degree, profession, and specialty. All data will be obtained via the registration process.
- Targeted to under-resourced regions, including Native American reservations, rural areas, and areas most affected by opioid use disorder as identified by the CDC.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to strengthening Nevada’s healthcare workforce.
