Supporting Opioid Use Prevention and Family Engagement

This focused workshop is intended to equip Fort McDermitt Wellness Center staff with essential skills to prevent opioid overdose, screen for opioid use disorder (OUD), and engage parents in discussions about adolescent substance use. Participants will gain practical tools to integrate into their daily work with individuals and families. This training empowers staff to better serve their community through prevention, early detection, and family support strategies.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand and implement overdose education and naloxone distribution (OEND).
  2. Screen for opioid use disorder using evidence-based tools.
  3. Communicate effectively with parents about OUD and adolescent substance use concerns.
