Adolescent Alcohol and Substance Use: A Hands‑On SPI Skills Training

This interactive 3-hour workshop equips professionals working with adolescents to recognize, assess, and respond effectively to unhealthy alcohol and drug use among youth. Participants will gain practical experience using validated screening tools, learn foundational Motivational Interviewing skills, and practice delivering brief, evidence-based interventions through live demonstrations, guided practice, and realistic roleplays. The session also explores developmental considerations, stigma reduction strategies, and ways to integrate prevention, early identification, and referral pathways into school based, medical, and community youth serving settings. By the end of the workshop, attendees will leave with increased confidence, concrete skills, and actionable tools to support youth in making healthier choices.
