Black Maternal Health Week is a national initiative to build awareness, activism, and community around Black maternal health in the US. Black women, regardless of social or economic status, are 2 to 3 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white, Hispanic, or Asian/Pacific Islander women. In Nevada, overdose is a leading cause of these deaths. Stigma, limited access to care, and systemic inequities put Black women at higher risk. Nevada Black Maternal Health Week is a chance to raise awareness, share resources, and support families.
Join us this Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Aliante Nature Discovery Park for a day of movement, food, and fellowship. The Maternal Wellness Walk will promote advocacy and community care, followed by the 2nd Annual Kinship Cookout featuring vendors, entertainment, and resources for Black maternal health and healing.
