SUMMARY:Prevention Ethics for Nevada Statewide Coalition Partners
DESCRIPTION:What is the Ethics in Prevention training?\nThis Ethics in Prevention training is designed to help participants understand and apply ethical principles in the field of substance misuse prevention\, particularly in prevention efforts focused on opioid and stimulant use. Using case examples and interactive activities\, participants will explore the six standards in the Prevention Code of Ethics and learn to use a four-step decision-making process to assess\, address\, and evaluate a range of ethical issues. \nBy the end of this training\, participants will have: \n\nDefined ethics and related terms\nDescribed the six principles in the Prevention Code of Ethics\nPracticed using an ethical decision-making process to apply the Prevention Code of Ethics\n\nThis training is relevant to those seeking certification or recertification as a Prevention Specialist and meets the basic requirements for prevention ethics for this type of certification. This training will not meet the requirements for anyone seeking treatment or recovery support-related certification or licensure. \nAre continuing education hours available? \n\n The IC&RC Prevention Committee has endorsed the new Ethics in Prevention training as an IC&RC-approved curriculum. This endorsement provides assurance that this course is applicable to IC&RC’s Prevention Code of Ethics and can be used toward the education/training requirement for IC&RC’s Prevention Specialist credential.\nParticipants completing the training will receive a certificate for seven (7) hours of participation.
